Sant Serni de La Pedra

Sant Serni de La Pedra is the parochial church of the town of La Pedra. Its first references are dated from the 9th century, when Guifré el Pelós did a reorganization of La Vall de Lord.

This church consist of a single nave and two side chapels which are dated from the 16th and 17th centuries. Inside it there is a baroque altarpiece of the 17th century and a lower choir with decorations of gypsum.

Close to the church there are the ruins of an old castle: the castle of La Pedra

How to get there?

From the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, we should take the road C-462 towards La Coma i La Pedra and continue on it for about 3 km. Take the detour located on the right side signposted with La Pedra and La Font Puda and then, turn left direction La Pedra. Remain on this road until your arrive on the church.

Sant Quirze i Santa Julita church

Sant Quirze i Santa Julita is the parish church of La Coma’s centre. It is dated from the 19th century but is still preserved the ironwork door belonging to the first Romanesque church dated from the year 1040 and located in the old cemetery of La Coma.

This is a church with a single nave with the rectory connected to it and in the north-eastern part there is a bell tower.

How to get there?

From Sant Llorenç de Morunys we take the road LV-4012 direction La Coma i La Pedra. Follow this road until arriving at the municipality of La Coma. Just arriving at the town, park the car in the parking on the right. From here, cross the road to the old town and going down by the street we will find the church.

 

Vila tower

La torre de la vila (Vila tower) is a fortified house located in the town of La Coma i La Pedra. It is catalogued as a Cultural Place with National Interest and included in the Catalan Architectural Patrimony Inventory.

It had been a medieval construction with civil uses, a gothic fortified house. It consists of a ground floor and three floors with a rectangular blueprint. It is the unique building of this zone with this traits.

 

How to get there?

From Sant Llorenç de Morunys take the road C-462 direction La Coma i La Pedra. Continue by this road until you arrive at the town of La Coma. Just arriving at the town, park the car in the parking on the right. Walk some metres until finding a path direction Santa Creu del Roser i Sant Serni de la Pedra. Follow the indications to Pujol del Racó, and once there, follow the main road, in descent direction, until finding la Torre de la vila on the left.

Sant Andreu del Pujol del Racó church

Sant Andreu del Pujol del Racó is a Romanesque church situated in the town of La Coma i La Pedra, next to the country house El Pujol del Racó. It’s made up of one nave and a squared apse, with a triumphal arch as a separation. However, nowadays the vault is in ruins.

The first news of this church is dated from 1050.

Pujol del Racó

El Pujol del Racó is a country house situated in the town of La Coma i La Pedra. It’s a civil construction of the 18th century with rectangular floor, in which we must emphasise a gallery of semi-circular archs’ porches.

Nowadays it’s uninhabited, and it’s one of the lordly country houses rich in agriculture of the town better examples.

Santa Creu del Roser

Santa Creu del Roser (also known as Santa Creu de la Pedra) is a hermitage located in the municipality of La Coma i la Pedra. In spite of its Romanesque appearance, its construction is from the beginnings of the 20th century.

This hermitage was built close to the house Ca l’Argelaguer, where it is believed that existed an old church that had been in the territory of the castle of La Pedra; there are no remains of this old church.

Its structure is made up by only one nave, with a non-stop and plastering barrel vault, without a defined apse. The entrance door, located in the northern facade, is crowned by a bell gable.

How to get there?

From Sant Llorenç de Morunys take the road C-462 direction La Coma i La Pedra; follow this road until the kilometric point 27 where there is indicated a diversion in 200 metres on the right, direction to the church of la Pedra and the Puda source. Take this diversion going direction to La Pedra and before arriving at this hermitage, turn left to a paved road. Follow this road during 3 kilometres until arriving at a houses ensemble; the hermitage will be on the left.
