Sant Pere de Graudescales

Sant Pere de Graudescales is a Romanesque church located in the municipality of Navès and declared Bé Cultural d’Interès Nacional (cultural asset of national interest). In the past it was a small Benedictine monastery of the 10th century from which nowadays there are only some vestiges.

The current church is dated from the 12th century and it’s considered from a Lombard Romanesque style typical of the 11th century. Its structure is of only one nave with plant of latin cross, a barrel vault with semicircular archs and with a transept that has three semicircular apses. The apses have a decoration with lesenes.

This church mantained the cult until the 19th century, when it was abandonned in ruins. The current building is the result of some restorations of the 20th century.

 

How to get there?

From the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys we should take the road LV-4241 towards to Berga. Remain on this road around 16 km and turn right where there are the signpost to Sant Pere de Graudescales. Park the car in this point and follow this path. On the intersection of Molí del Bancell, we should turn left and follow this way until we arrive at Sant Pere de Graudescales church.

Pont Quebradís

Pont Quebradís (Quebradís Bridge) is a natural bridge surrounded by many forests and formed by travertines which had been shaped due to the Valls River.

Valls River runs through a gorge zone except in Pont Quebradís, which it passes inside the mountain, creating a natural bridge and leaving on the other side of the mountain.

The access to this point has some complicated stretches and it’s recommendable to go there in spring and summer, if it doesn’t rain or if it hasn’t rained.

How to get there?

From the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, we should take the road LV-4241 towards Berga. Remain on this road about 11 km. until the detour to Sisquer and Montcalb located on the left side of the road. Take this detour and follow the indications to Sisquer and Montcalb. Once passed Sisquer hermitage, continue on the main road until you find a directional signposted to Vallonga, La parera, Cal Parrillo, Molí de la Corriu and Pont Quebradís. Follow the signposted to Pont Quebradís until arrive in a small reservoir. In this point starts the hiking route so you must park the car.

Pratformiu

Pratformiu is a tableland placed at 1000 meters above the sea level, between Pratformiu and Mitges mountain ranges and at spring season it’s covered whole in green.

At the north of it, the green field becomes to a red and brown clays which forms a badland environment. An ideal place to enjoy fully the nature and the valley surroundings.

How to get there?

From the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys we should take the road LV-4241 towards to Berga. Remain on this road around 8 km. and turn left direction to Valls. Follow every time the signposting towards Sant Martí de la Corriu. Once in this point, we should go direction to the Cap de Balç viewpoint. Remain on the main path several meters until we arrive at Pratformiu.

*You can’t arrive at this point by car, only by 4×4.

 

Pedró dels Quatre Batlles

Pedró dels Quatre Batlles, located at 2.387 metres, is the highest point of Port del Comte mountain range. In this point, the visitor can get an excellent panoramic views of the Pyrenees.

In this point converges four municipal limits: La Coma i La Pedra, Odèn, Fígols i Alinyà and La Vansa I Fórnols towns. This fact lead to the name of Pedró dels Quatre Batlles (the frontier of the four mayors).

El Pedró dels Quatre Batlles is an indispensable point to visit for hiking lovers during the summer as well as in winter, thanks to the 3 different snowshoes itineraries.

How to get there

From the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys we should take the road LV-4241 towards Port del Comte. We remain on this road and follow the signposting of Port Del Comte sky station. Once there, we should go to the Estivella or Clot de la Vall Parquing. The hiking route starts in this point.

Mirador del Querol

Querol viewpoint is another lookout located in Port del Comte Mountain; it is placed in Querol mountain range, near Orriets summit.

From this point, the visitor can enjoy the great panorama views of La Vall de Lord and the area of Canalda. Also it’s possible to obtain a great views of the whole Central Catalonia geography on clearly days.

How to get there?

From the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys we should take the road LV-4241 towards Port del Comte. We arrive at the road intersection of Coll de Jou; we should take the detour direction Montnou (first exit) and continue along this way. In several meters we should follow the signposting direction Prats de Bacies until we arrive in Refugi de la Bòfia (=Bòfia refuge). The hiking route starts in this point.

Prats de Bacies

Prats de Bacies are a subalpine meadows located at the highest parts of Port del Comte mountain. They are placed on the south – south west part of the mountain, between Puig de les Morreres and La Bòfia refuge.

This is an ideal place to walk with all the family on summer or with snowshoes in winter.

How to get there?

From Sant Llorenç de Morunys take the road LV-4241 direction Port del Comte. We arrive at Coll de Jou and we continue by a paved road direction to Prats de Bacies which in few meters becomes a forest path. Continue until Bòfia refuge, where we can park the car.

*You can only arrive at this place with a tall car or 4×4.

 

Bòfia’s pothole

The pothole of la Bòfia is a chasm of 30-40 metres of depth located in the mountain range of Port del Comte, a deep well inside which there is snow all the year. This pothole was used since immemorial times as an ice well. The ice was carried covered up with alfalfa husk to the Solsona’s well and also to Barcelona, an activity that was a source of income for the region. Nowadays the pothole gives refuge to alpine chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus).

How to get there?

Option 1: from the Prats de Bacies refuge. From Sant Llorenç de Morunys take the road LV-4241 direction to Port del Comte. We arrive at Coll de Jou and we continue by a forest paved road direction to Prats de Bacies which in few meters becomes a forest track. Continue by this track until the refuge.

Option 2: from the parking of Estivella. From Sant Llorenç de Morunys take the road LV-4241 direction to Port del Comte. Before arriving at the roundabout of Coll de Jou, take the intersection on the right direction to Port del Comte. Once in the urbanisation, take the third intersection on the left, to the ski resort. Once in the ski resort, we have to follow the road that goes behind the main lodgings and continue direction to El Sucre and Estivella. When we arrive at the parking of El Sucre, continue by the road closer to the bar, that goes to Estivella. Continue by this road until arriving at the parking of Estivella, where we park the car.
